  • What do I have to consider if I want to hire a person with a certain residence status?

    If you want to hire immigrant people, there are a few things you need to consider. Depending on their residence status, immigrants are not always allowed to work immediately. There are cases in which you have to apply for employment at the migration office in time. Before you hire a person with residence status, you must be sure and also be able to prove that this person is allowed to work or has a work permit. You can find out about this, for example, from the employer service of the “Agentur für Arbeit”.   

  • How do I find out if someone with residence status is allowed to work?

    The residence document states the conditions under which the employee may work. Generally there are three cases: – Gainful employment permitted. The permit is valid without restrictions. This means that the employee is treated in the same way as local employees. – Gainful employment permitted only with permission of the migration office. In this case, the employee must submit an application to the BAMF (link) to be allowed to work. – Gainful employment not permitted. The employee is not allowed to work for the time being.
