Basic early-years childcare qualification B1

Do you live in Bremen, are multilingual and would like to work with children and families?

The state of Bremen – and the PBW – would like to qualify more people to work with children aged 0 to 3 years in an educational setting. Interest parties whose level of German corresponds to the B1 language level can now complete a basic qualification in early-years childcare as part of the ESF’s “Pathways to Employment” project.

You can take part in this basic qualification in early-years childcare if you:

  • demonstrate the ability and willingness to complete the qualification,
  • your level of German corresponds to the B1 language level (according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR))
  • can present an extended certificate of good conduct and a health certificate

You will learn about professional social work with children aged 0-3 years, in class and in real-world settings as part of this basic qualification in early-years childcare. This includes:

  • The essentials of early-years education for understanding and supporting children well
  • Pedagogical terminology for communicating well with children, parents and colleagues
  • Information about early-years childcare and freelancing
  • Improving your German skills

You will attend the preparatory school at the Paritätisches Bildungswerk in Bremen for 6 months and complete an internship. If you then work as an early-years professional, you will also take part in the “on-the-job” qualification programme that runs parallel to your work.
