Where can I register as asylum seeker? Arrival and Registration

All asylum seekers in Germany have to register. \n Immediately after arrival you will have to register at the official registration office. When entering the country, registration takes place through the border agency. If you are already in Germany, you can register at the aliens department, refugee accomdation or arrival centre. \n

Refugees are distributed all over the country based on percentage. Bremen is taking 1% of arriving refugees. Therefore, it is not possible to choose a city. \n In exceptional cases, a wish for a specific city based on personal reasons can be considered. \n

What is a residency permit?

A residency permit (Aufenthaltsgestattung) gives you legal right to be in Germany. \n You will receive temporary residency permit, if you are registered in Germany and have applied for asylum but your asylum procedure hasn’t started yet. This permit is called “BÜMA”, (Bescheinigung über die Meldung als Asylsuchender = asylum seeker registration certificate) and you are required to carry it with you at all times. What can I do if I don't get granted asylum?
