• You are staying in a first entry facility (Erstaufnahmeeinrichtung)

  Medical Exam
  

  A medical examination will be made to check for contagious diseases. This includes an x-ray of the respiratory tract (lungs, etc.). You will have to take the medical exam in order to apply for asylum. The examining doctor and the extend of the exam will be decided upon by the regional government authority.
  

• You are staying in a central entry facility (Zentralen Aufnahmestelle Bremen – ZAST)

  You will receive a provisional card from ZAST, which is valid for 3 month until your situation is decided upon. After that, you will receive a health insurance card (Gesundheitskarte).

• General medical care

  You will receive medical and dental treatment in case of urgent illnes and severe pain. In addition, you will be provided with medicine and dressing material to relief suffering and improve recovery.

• Vaccination

  You will receive vaccination to prevent disease as well as preventive medical checkup. You also get the chance to complete already existing vaccination.

• Dental prosthesis

  In the case of urgent medical cases,  dental prosthesis treatment will be provided.

• Pregnancy and birth

  As a pregnant woman or woman in childbed (giving birth) you will receive relevant medical and nursing care, midwive support, medicine and remedies and dressing material.

• Psychological short-term therapy

  Psychological short-term therapy can only be prescribed after an assessment provided by Dr. Haack at Hospital Klinikum Bremen-Ost.

• Glasses

  If you are under 18, you can get the costs for glasses refunded, after approval from the Social Service Agency (Amt für Soziale Dienste)

  ATTENTION: in case the cost of the glasses requires additional payment, you will need to pay this yourself.
