You can retrain to become a social worker at Paritätisches Bildungswerk.

Social workers work with children in kindergartens, preschools and schools. They support educators with their work.

Lessons include:

  • The basics of social work
  • Social work and conduct
  • Communication and language
  • Society
  • Creativity
  • Music and rhythm
  • Ecology and health
  • Mandatory: Specialist courses and practical support

The retraining course is for people from Bremen who speak and write German (B1 Level), have a school-leaving certificate/certificate of completion for compulsory secondary schooling and completed a vocational training course (three years).

Employers can apply to the Federal Employment Agency for a subsidy in accordance with the Qualification Opportunities Act.

In the case of retraining jobseekers/returnees, funding can be applied for using an education voucher issued by the Jobcenters/Bundesagentur für Arbeit.

You will sit a state exam at the end of the retraining course to become a social worker.
