At AOK Bremen, you can obtain a smartcard (Gesundheitskarte), which gives you access to healthcare. To get this card, you must register at the Amt für Soziale Dienste (Social Services Department).
If you need emergency medical care and do not have a smartcard, a temporary card can be faxed to you by contacting AOK Bremen.
Should you lose your card, a new one will be issued to you.
If you lose your card on more than one occasion, you must get written approval from the Amt für Soziale Dienste in order to receive a new one.
